3 STEP PROCESS

It emphasizes the importance of understanding one’s true motivations, envisioning specific outcomes, and considering the broader impact of career goals on one’s life.

The post ultimately encourages personal growth and the pursuit of authentic career fulfillment.

1. What Do You Really, REALLY, REALLY Want?

When it comes to your career, it’s essential to dig deep and uncover your true desires. Ask yourself:

  • What ignites your passion?

  • I always hated the term passion.

  • I am a person that enjoys learning, figuring out solutions, problem identification and improvement.

  • I have a keen sense of business, how, what, how to improve simple process to drastically improve results.

  • People enjoy my services as I use an interview approach to help uncover they want, like, dislike. The ‘okay’, ‘sounds interesting’, ‘that is me’, ‘NO’.

  • What drives you to excel?

  • I accept and have enjoyed a life as a leader. Companies, employers, employees, clients seek my guidance as a leader.

  • Again, figuring out your journey – direction - giving you growth opportunities.

  • Starting with today is not enough, need to include steps to uncover your journey as you grow.

  • What legacy do you want to leave behind?

  • I love to work and work hard. I take pride in the fact, I have not been impacted by downsizing (yet), have always been provided opportunities to advance, and have been well-respected in my workplace.

  • Are you a person that wants to leave a specific legacy?

  • Is your desire to work hard, be respected, and leave at the end of the day?

  • Do you want to improve or affect a skill, process, people?

2. Define the SPECIFIC Outcome

Be precise about your goals. Consider:

  • What specific achievements do you envision?

  • Is it a promotion, a successful project, or a new role?

  • Visualize the end result vividly.

6. Authentic Desires vs. “Shoulds”

Distinguish between genuine desires and societal expectations:

  • Are you pursuing your dreams or someone else’s script?

  • Remember, “shoulds” rarely lead to fulfillment.

7. Emotional Barometer

Evaluate your emotional response:

  • Does thinking about your goal evoke contentment, happiness, or excitement?

  • Trust these feelings—they guide you toward healthy goals.

8. The Immediate YES Test

Imagine having your goal right now:

  • Would you eagerly embrace it?

  • If not, explore the underlying issues.

9. Goal Integration with Lifestyle

Consider practical aspects:

  • How much time and effort can you dedicate?

  • Who else might be impacted by your pursuit?
